Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Board announces new members

ZEELAND, Mich., May 9, 2023 – Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Board, soon to become the Corewell Health Zeeland Community Board, is thrilled to announce the addition of two new board members. Dr. Brandi Mendham is the superintendent of Zeeland Public Schools and Joe Matthews is the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Gentex Corporation.

Dr. Brandi Mendham, Ph.D., is a visionary leader, lifelong learner and certified educator. She has 22 years of experience instructing elementary and post-secondary education students, securing resources through grant opportunities, facilitating professional development, administering grant programs and related budgets, facilitating school improvement and implementing effective programs. She became the superintendent of Zeeland Public Schools in 2021 and has been with the district since 2014, previously serving as the assistant superintendent of curriculum. She also serves as the special education field coordinator and adjunct graduate professor at Grand Valley State University.

Joe Matthews started his career at Delphi in Kokomo, Indiana in 1991 working in operations, manufacturing engineering and supply management. He served in leadership roles at Whirlpool and was involved in pre-integration work for the Maytag acquisition. Joe worked for PxC Strategy& (formerly Management engineers) and helped to expand their presence in the United States and joined Gentex in 2010 as purchasing manager, later moving to the role of Vice President of Purchasing. He took on additional responsibility and developed the diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at Gentex and now serves as the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
