Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital Announces Addition of Fixed MRI

ZEELAND, Mich., January 18, 2017 – Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital is pleased to announce that construction has begun to add a fixed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite to the hospital’s radiology department. The groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, January 18, marked the exciting occasion.

Zeeland Community Hospital currently features a mobile MRI, which is managed by Spectrum Health Grand Rapids. The fixed MRI will offer more consistent availability to serve patients at Zeeland Community Hospital seven days a week, including holidays.

“The addition of the fixed MRI will have a positive impact on the safety, quality of care and experience for our patients,” said Joe Klesney, chief operating officer, Zeeland Community Hospital. “This addition has been part of the strategic plan and a priority of our Board for the past three years. We are pleased that construction has begun and the enhanced services will be available this spring.”

In addition to increased safety and comfort, a fixed magnet allows fuller access to MRI services to the patients of the lakeshore. The fixed MRI also fosters synergies with other Zeeland Community Hospital’s programs such as the growing cancer and orthopaedic care services.

The MRI project is expected to be completed in May 2017. For more information about the programs and services available at Zeeland Community Hospital, visit spectrumhealth.org/zeeland.
