Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital Launches The DAISY and BEE Awards

ZEELAND, Mich., June 25, 2018 – To honor and celebrate the compassionate care staff provide every day, Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital has launched the DAISY and BEE Awards.

Patients, families, community members and hospital staff are encouraged to nominate a hospital employee for outstanding care they’ve provided. This awards program was adopted from The DAISY Award, a wide-spread program established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. The Barnes family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick. So they created an international award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.

Zeeland Community Hospital has expanded the recognition program to include both clinical and non-clinical employees, specifically the DAISY award for nurses and BEE awards for any supporting staff member. Nominations are open for any Spectrum Health employee who has gone above and beyond in creating a meaningful experience for a patient.

The DAISY and BEE awards will be an ongoing program with selected individuals being recognized quarterly. Winners will be announced on Facebook and will receive a special gift.

“Recognition is very powerful, and is important to our culture when we look around and see the great work of entire whole team.” said Jane Czerew, chief nursing officer at Zeeland Community Hospital. “We are very excited to launch the DAISY and BEE Awards to highlight the exceptional patient care received right here at Zeeland Community Hospital.”

Nomination forms can be found at Zeeland Community Hospital or online at spectrumhealth.org/zeeland.
