Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital Open House to Showcase Student Art Contest
ZEELAND, Mich., January 4, 2016 – For over 13 years Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital has partnered with local schools to hold its annual Student Art Contest. To celebrate and showcase the artists’ accomplishments and award-winning art, the hospital will host an open house on Friday, February 5 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the DeWitt Building located on the hospital’s campus. The public is invited.
“This year we added the theme of health, hope and healing through art,” said Kelly Adkins, coordinator, community programs and event organizer. “We are excited to capture student’s creativity and recognize the importance of art in the healing process.”
Young artists who are in the third through the eighth grade from local schools have the opportunity to compete in this annual contest. School art teachers will submit the top three pieces from each grade; judges then determine first, second and third place honors for each grade per school. Awards will include honorable mention and best in show. The artwork of the first place winners for the middle school grades will be professionally matted and displayed at the hospital for one year. All artists will receive a ribbon.
