Start the New Year in a Healthy Way at Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital

ZEELAND, Mich., December 26 – Now that the holiday celebrations are over, many people are focusing on healthy improvements for the new year. Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital wants to help community residents reach their goals by offering new community education classes focused on health and wellness.

Zeeland Community Hospital offers classes for all ages. “Fit and Healthy Families” is a fun-filled program for kids ages 5 to 12 and their families. The focus of the program is to provide a holistic approach to helping families improve their habits to live healthier and happier lives. The eight-week class, beginning on January 10, is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The program costs $40 per family. Deadline for registration is January 2, 2017.

If you are looking to enhance your nutrition awareness, join us for “Avoid the Trap! Today’s Top Mindless Eating Pitfalls and How to Overcome Them.” This class is focused on turning mindless eating into mindful eating. It will be held on Monday, January 16 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per person or $15 per family.

If you need a boost to jumpstart your 2017, join the seven-week “Healthy-Me Kickoff” health challenge. This group, led by a registered dietitian will meet once a week to discuss a variety of health topics. In addition to better health, there will be incentives for meeting weekly goals. The kickoff begins on Wednesday, January 11 at 6 p.m. The cost is $35 per person.

Zeeland Community Hospital also offers Tai Chi, Mat Pilates and Seated Cardio fitness classes to help increase activity levels, balance, flexibility and overall strength.
