May 17, 2022

Grand Rapids, Mich., May 17, 2022—Tina Freese Decker, BHSH System president and CEO, has been named one of MLive’s Women Who Shape the State honorees.

As part of this recognition, Freese Decker also was chosen to receive a specialty Executive Leadership award, recognizing her exceptional leadership guidance and service to Spectrum Health and the newly formed BHSH System, as well as her commitment to community.

Freese Decker was one of 13 women across the state to become an honoree, and one of three Michigan women to receive a specialty award, which was announced during the annual Women Who Shape the State summit held at the Crowne Plaza in Lansing on May 16.

The event celebrates businesswomen of all backgrounds and honors Michigan trailblazers who have made a significant impact in the world of business, health care, education and the nonprofit sectors. Keynote speakers at the event included Jocelyn Benson, Michigan’s Secretary of State, and Mama Sol, a motivational speaker, lyricist and teacher.

On February 1, Spectrum Health and Beaumont Health came together to form a new not-for-profit health system, temporarily known as BHSH System. Freese Decker is president and CEO of the new system. She has led Spectrum Health since 2018.
