Virtual Behavioral Health Program Supports Area Youth

Corewell Health in Greenville provides virtual behavioral health support to students

Grand Rapids, Mich., Oct. 2, 2023 – Corewell Health in Greenville is now offering virtual behavior health services to area youth between the ages of 14-18 through the Lifestyles School Behavioral Health Telemedicine Program.

Students served by this program will be able to have 30- or 60-minute sessions with a licensed social worker from the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

“Behavioral health issues among adolescents are at an all-time high across the country,” said Katie Thorsen, manager of virtual health at Corewell Health. “This program allows students to receive care that is easy to access, affordable and close to home.”

Piloted in 2019-2020, the program benefits students at six high schools within Montcalm County and is partially funded by a $26,000 grant from the Greenville Area Community Foundation.

“We are extremely grateful for our partnership with Greenville Public Schools to support these students,” she said. “These grant dollars are making a difference in the local community every day.”

Those who are uninsured or underinsured can access these crucial services through the support of these grant funds, removing a barrier to affordable and exceptional behavioral health care.
