Wincek Appointed VP of Operations at Ludington Hospital
“Jim has more than 20 years experience in all aspects of hospital administration,” said Mark Vipperman, president. “We welcome him as a great addition to the SHLH leadership team.
“His depth of experience in both clinical and non-clinical program management, strategic planning, and creating new services will be very valuable. With his background as a medical practice manager, he has an exceptional track record in physician relations, recruitment and integration—key assets for us. ”
Prior to his work at the Hastings hospital, Wincek was vice president of Goshen Health System in Indiana, and operations manager at Cardinal Health in Milwaukee. Before that he held leadership positions with a variety of health care organizations in Wisconsin.
“This feels a bit like coming home,” said Wincek. “For many years, my wife, Jeni, and I have had a vacation home near Custer. We love the area. The idea of working where I choose to vacation is the best opportunity I could imagine. It will make for a very smooth transition.”
Wincek graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a master’s degree in health care administration. He earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Alabama. He is currently an adjunct professor of health care administration at Ferris State University.
The new operations chief will assume administrative responsibility for medical imaging, laboratory, food service/environmental services/laundry, plant operations/materials management, property, rehabilitation services, security, oncology, and physician practices.
The duties of the VP of operations have been carried out by other members of the hospital leadership team as a search was held to find an experienced successor to former VP Drew Dostal, who accepted a CEO position in Montana.
