Women’s Health Provider Joins Big Rapids Medical Team
Emily Bromley, MD, joins Spectrum Health Big Rapids OB/GYN staff.
BIG RAPIDS, Mich., August 6, 2020 – Emily Bromley, MD, has joined the medical team at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital to provide obstetrics, gynecology and urology services to women in the community.
A native of Fargo, North Dakota, Bromley earned her bachelor’s degree while studying physiology and German at the University of Minnesota and her medical degree from the University of North Dakota. She recently completed four years of residency at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.
While in medical school, she worked at a hospital in Turkey and while in residency spent time in Togo, a country in Africa providing gynecologic consultation and surgical treatment at a mission hospital.
Her international experience gave her an appreciation for the abundance of resources we have in the United States and the choices patients have in choosing their treatment options.
“It helped me gain a broader perspective of the different tools I can use and different ways to be creative in surgery and in my medical practice,” she said. “It gives me an appreciation for all the resources we do have.”
Bromley believes in working with women to provide the best experience possible during pregnancy and childbirth including being open to natural birth and not using unnecessary interventions.
“This is your body, this is your experience—let’s make this experience what you want it to be and what’s important to you – in a safe way,” she said.
Bromley enjoys performing surgery and has experience in robotic surgery along with a variety of surgical procedures.
Bromley said she prefers living and working in smaller towns and has already settled into Big Rapids. She enjoys hiking, traveling, exercise and exploring the outdoors.
