GREENVILLE, Mich., August 25, 2020 – Spectrum Health United Hospital is excited to welcome back Mandy German, PA-C, to its health care team.

German is from Belding and began work at United Hospital as a phlebotomist at just 17 years old—a part-time job she continued until she began graduate school.

A faculty member at Grand Valley State University since 2012, German will now combine a love of teaching with caring for women in the regional community she still calls home.

German will work part-time providing prenatal and gynecology care. She’s worked as a physician assistant in a family practice setting the past 15 years and said she enjoys providing care in the same area where she grew up.

“I’ve always had a heart for rural and underserved medicine,” she said. “I grew up in a small town, and it’s been so fun to stay in the area and see people as patients that have known me for years. It’s been a real neat environment to give back to patients who are very appreciative of the care they receive.”

German teaches future physician assistants at GVSU. “Teaching is a way to make a big difference in the medical field,” she said. “I love knowing they go out into the world to provide great care.”

As for her own education, German received her bachelor’s degree from Oakland University and her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Central Michigan University in 2004.

She and her husband Chris live in Lowell with their four teenage daughters. They enjoy working on their hobby farm and riding horses.
